Craddock Wins 60m Hurdles Title at Tyson Invite; Breaks School Record

Indoor redshirt freshman Kevin Craddock won the 60m hurdle title at the Tyson Invitational on Friday in Fayetteville, AR, breaking nearly a 30-year old school record in the process to lead the No. 24 Bruin men on day one of the meet.
Craddock, who ran the No. 2 preliminary time (7.80, then lifetime-best), won the final in a time of 7.73, just .03 seconds off of the NCAA automatic mark. The time broke Greg Foster's 1979 record of 7.78 and moved Craddock to No. 4 in the country. He trailed all of the race before pulling ahead after the final hurdle. Prior to today's performances, Craddock had a lifetime-best of 7.84 in the hurdles.
Also having a successful day in Arkansas were junior John Caulfield and senior David Murphy. Caulfield was the top collegiate finisher in the shot put competition, finishing second overall, with an indoor season-best throw of 61-4.25. Caulfield's previous season best was 60-8, and his new best moves him to just outside the top-10 performers in the NCAA this season. Murphy placed second in the pole vault with an NCAA provisional jump of 17-0.75, just shy of his indoor lifetime-best, 17-1.
In the championship section of the mile, sophomore Laef Barnes finished fifth overall in a time of 4:06.03. Freshman Darius Savage placed 10th in the shot put with his season-best throw of 56-8.50. Freshman Darius Reed finished 14th overall (3rd in his flight) in the 60m hurdles, running 8.06. Junior Joel Tuosto fouled out in the long jump.
Competition continues on Saturday as senior Mike Landers will compete in the championship section of the pole vault, sophomore Luke Barr will compete in the high jump, freshman Scott Crawford and Barnes will run the 800m and junior jumpers Michael Johnson and Dominique Easterling will compete in the triple.
