Berkeley, Calif - The ninth-ranked UCLA men's tennis team lost the doubles point but continued its dominance in singles play, defeating No. 26 Cal, 5-2 on Sunday at the Hellman Tennis Complex.
UCLA (3-0) notched its third straight 5-2 victory to improve to 3-0 on the season. Cal took the doubles point with wins at court Nos. 1 and 2 to take a 1-0 advantage heading into the singles action.
The Bruins, however, dominated the singles play like they had done in their two previous matches, quicky taking four straight wins to clinch the match. Holden Seguso, Mathieu Dehaine and Jeremy Drean gave the Bruins a 3-1 lead, as all three quickly won in straight sets. That set the stage for Michael Look at court No. 4, as he downed Jonathan Dahan, 6-3, 7-5 to clinch the win.
UCLA returns home next week, hosting San Diego on Wednesday and No. 25 Boise State on Friday. Both matches begin at 1:30 p.m.
