
Golfers Finish Fifth in Las Vegas

The third-ranked UCLA men's golf team finished fifth at the Southern Highlands Collegiate Sunday in Las Vegas.
The Bruins posted a team score of 297 (+9) in the final round for a 54-hole total of 881 (+17). Host Nevada-Las Vegas won the event with a score of 869 (+5). Charlotte was second at 871 (+7), followed by Georgia at 872 (+8) and USC at 878 (+14).
Individually for the Bruins, junior Erik Flores tied for fourth place at 214 (-2) after posting a final round 74 (+2). Flores, who was even par through 16 holes, bogeyed the final two holes to drop to two-under for the tournament. Freshman Philip Francis tied for 27th at 224 (+8) following a final round of 75 (+3). Senior Craig Leslie and sophomore Jason Kang tied for 31st at nine-over par 225 (+9). In the final round, Leslie signed for a 77 (+5) and Kang recorded a score of 78 (+6). Senior Kevin Chappell led the Bruins with a score of 71 (-1) in the last round and finished tied for 36th place at 226 (+10).
