Bruins Rise Three Spots to Finish Third in Arizona

The top-ranked UCLA women's golf team redeemed itself somewhat at the PING/ASU Invitational Sunday at the Karsten Course in Tempe, Ariz.
Following two rounds of over-par play, the Bruins posted a solid team score of 286 (-2) and rose three spots to finish in third place at 876 (+12). USC won the event with a 54-hole total of 854 (-10), followed by Arizona State at 865 (+1). Texas A&M placed fourth at 879 (+15) and Georgia was fifth at 880 (+16).
Junior Maiya Tanaka led the Bruins in the final round with a career-best score of 68 (-4) to tie for 42nd at 226 (+10). Tanaka did not make a bogey all day, and played both nines in two-under par, including a birdie at the last hole.
Sophomore Sydnee Michaels placed fifth at three-under par 213 after carding a 70 (-2) on Sunday. Michaels was one-over par at the 12th before playing the final six holes in three-under.
Junior Tiffany Joh tied for eighth place at 217 (+1). She played the front side in two-over par 37 and the inward nine in two-under 35 for an even par 72.
Freshman Glory Yang tied for 38th at 225 (+9) and junior Ryann O'Toole tied for 61st at 232 (+16). Both players recorded scores of 76 (+4) in the final round.
At the Kraft Nabisco Championship in Rancho Mirage, UCLA freshman Jose Maria Uribe tied for 58th at 12-over par 300. Former Bruin standout Giulia Sergas fired a final round 69 (-3) and tied for 38th at 295 (+7).
