The UCLA women's golf team won its first tournament of the season, outlasting the competition Sunday at the Landfall Tradition tournament in Wilmington, NC.

The Bruins posted a team score of 300 (+12) for a 54-hole score of 880 (+16), good enough for a five-shot victory over North Carolina (885, +21). Texas placed third at 890 (+26), followed by Duke at 891 (+27). Virginia finished fifth at 892 (+28).

Individually for the Bruins, sophomore Tiffany Lua posted a final round score of 72 (E) and tied for first place at 214 (-2). Senior Glory Yang tied for 11th at 222 (+6) after carding a 75 (+3) in the final round. Junior Stephanie Kono tied for 15th place at 223 (+7) after signing for a score of 77 (+5). Freshman Ani Gulugian tied for 26th 226 (+10) following a score of 81 (+9) and junior Brianna Do tied for 30th at 227 (+11) after her final round of 76 (+4).

The victory was the first for Lua in her collegiate career. For Coach Carrie Forsyth the team title represented her 35th in 12 seasons as head coach.
