Box Score

The No. 11/12-ranked UCLA men's soccer team scored three goals in the second half to defeat Oregon State 3-0 in a Pac-10 Conference game played in Corvallis, OR on Sunday afternoon. Shawn Singh, Victor Chavez and Chandler Hoffman each scored goals for the Bruins, and goalkeeper Brian Rowe tied his career-high with eight saves to help record the team's ninth shutout of the year.

Oregon State (6-10-0, 1-8-0 in the Pac-10) had the statistical advantage in the first half, outshooting UCLA, 10-4. Rowe did his part to keep the Beavers off the scoreboard, making four of his eight saves in the first period.

UCLA (13-4-1, 7-2-0 in the Pac-10) got its offense going early in the second half. Less than four minutes into the second half, Singh notched his first goal of the season, taking a shot from the left side and beating Oregon State goalkeeper Steve Spangler with a shot to the lower right corner.

Chavez doubled up the score at 70:22 with his eighth goal of the year. Kelyn Rowe earned an assist on the play. Hoffman scored his second goal in as many games at the 74:50 mark, Kelyn Rowe started the play with a pass to Eder Arreola, who then passed to Hoffman for a far post shot from the left side.

Brian Rowe and Kevin Weiner, who made his first regular season appearance, combined for the shutout, UCLA's ninth of the year.

With the win, the Bruins remain in the hunt for the Pac-10 title, just one point behind first-place California. The Golden Bears could clinch the conference title with a win over Stanford on Thursday, but a California tie or loss would put UCLA in position to win the conference with a win at San Diego State on Saturday.
