Bruins Finish in a Tie for Fourth at Regional Challenge

The top-ranked UCLA women's golf team finished in a tie for fourth place at the 15th annual Regional Challenge Wednesday at the Palos Verdes Golf Course in Palos Verdes Estates.

The Bruins posted a team score of 303 (+19) and tied with third-ranked Arizona State at 898 (+46) over 54 holes. USC won the event for the first time posting a final round score of 296 (+12) for a three-day total of 876 (+24). Pepperdine captured second place at 879 (+27) and Ohio State was third at 897 (+45).

Individually for the Bruins, junior Glory Yang was the top finisher, capturing sixth place with a 54-hole total of 220 (+7). On Wednesday, she posted a third round score of 72 (+1) that featured four birdies and five bogeys. She jumped nine spots on the leader board on the final day. Senior Sydnee Michaels tied for 19th at 225 (+12) after posting a 76 (+5), followed by freshman Tiffany Lua who tied for 21st at 226 (+13) after carding a 79 (+8). Sophomore Brianna Do tied for 33rd at 229 (+16) following a final round score of 78 (+7) and junior Lalita Boonnoppornkul tied for 49th at 232 (+19) after her round of 77 (+6). Playing as an individual, freshman Stacy Kim placed 77th at 247 (+34).

Pepperdine's Lisa McCloskey won individual honors with a three-round total of 211 (-2) after posting a 73 (+2) in the final round.
