Ryann Krais won the pentathlon title on Friday evening at the Boise State Team Invitational in Nampa, ID as the sophomore tallied the No. 5 score in the NCAA this season.
Krais won every event during the competition on Friday as she just missed her lifetime-best score by six points. Her score of 3980 points is fifth in the country and she posted three lifetime-best marks during the competition.
She opened the competition with a season-best run in the 60m hurdles, crossing the finish line in 8.91 (929 pts.). Krais then cleared an indoor-best of 5-7 in the high jump (855 pts.). She posted a solid shot put mark of 35-7.25 for 585 points and then ended the day with lifetime-best performances in the long jump (18-8/756 pts.) and 800m (2:17.71/855 pts.).
Also on Friday, sophomore Trent Perez competed in the first half of the men's heptathlon. Perez stands in fourth-place heading into Saturday with a score of 2711 points. He had marks of 7.42 in the 60m (739 pts.), 21-10 in the long jump (732 pts.), 32-1.50 in the shot put (473 pts.) and 6-5 in the high jump (767 pts.)
The Bruins continue competition on Saturday at the Boise State Team Invitational.
