LOS ANGELES - Junior right-hander Trevor Bauer struck out 10 batters in 7.2 innings to help the No. 2 UCLA baseball team earn a 4-1 victory at Jackie Robinson Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Jeff Gelalich went 3-for-3 with one double and two runs to pace UCLA's offense.

Bauer (1-0) allowed two hits against the visiting Dons (0-2), pitching into the eighth inning. The right-hander from Valencia, Calif., surrendered an infield single to the leadoff batter in the first inning before holding San Francisco hitless until the top of the eighth inning.

Gelalich finished with two singles, one double, two stolen bases, two runs and one sacrifice bunt. Rahmatulla was the only other UCLA player to record two or more hits. He went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run and one walk. Dean Espy went 1-for-3 with a run-scoring double.

San Francisco right-hander Kyle Zimmer (0-1) absorbed the loss, surrendering two runs and five hits through 4.2 innings. Zimmer finished with four strikeouts and three walks.

UCLA's Nick Vander Tuig earned the save in his first collegiate appearance, retiring three hitters in order after entering the game with one runner on first base and nobody out in the top of the ninth. Vander Tuig induced a foul pop out to first base and a groundout back to the pitcher's mound before striking out Adam Clear to end the game.

The Bruins (2-0) won for the second day in a row, scoring all four runs with two outs. With runners at second and third in the bottom of the fifth, Rahmatulla drilled a two-run single to center field to hand UCLA a 2-0 lead.

In the bottom of the seventh, Gelalich laced a two-out single up the middle before stealing second base. With Rahmatulla at the plate, he stole third and scored on an errant throw by USF catcher Travis Higgs. Rahmatulla drew a walk, stole second base and raced home on a double by Espy that sailed just shy of the fence, over the head of center fielder Pete Lavin.

Left-hander Mitchell Beacom entered the ballgame in the top of the eighth with two outs and UCLA ahead 4-1. With runners aboard first and second base, Beacom struck out Lavin looking on a 3-and-2 count to end the inning.

UCLA and San Francisco conclude their three-game series on Sunday at 1 p.m. Admission to Sunday's contest at Jackie Robinson Stadium is free. Parking costs $7.
