LOS ANGELES - The No. 13 UCLA baseball lost to USC, 2-0, before 11,680 fans at Dodger Stadium in a non-conference game on Sunday afternoon in the second annual Dodgertown Classic presented by the Automobile Club of Southern California.

UCLA's five-game win streak against the Trojans was snapped, as the Bruins (8-6) managed four hits and was shut out for the first time since May 22, 2009 (at Arizona State, 4-0).

USC right-hander Logan Odom (1-2) collected his first victory of the season, scattering four hits through 7.1 innings. Odom struck out four batters and walked two. UCLA right-hander Adam Plutko (2-1) absorbed the loss, allowing two runs and four hits through six innings. Plutko registered eight strikeouts and issued two walks.

The Trojans (5-10) scored one run in the bottom of the third and added another in the fourth against UCLA (8-6) before holding on for the shutout victory.

USC claimed a 1-0 lead with two outs in the third. Kevin Roundtree drew a two-out hit-by-pitch and James Roberts walked. Ricky Oropesa blooped a run-scoring single over the head of a diving Tyler Rahmatulla in shallow right-center field to send home Roundtree.

The Trojans added their second run in the fourth. After drawing a leadoff walk, Alex Sherrod advanced to third base on a single to left field by Jake Hernandez. A one-out single through the right side of the infield scored Sherrod from third. Plutko struck out Omar Cotto Lozada and induced a groundout by Roundtree to end the inning.

UCLA's best chance to score came in the top of the eighth inning. With one out, Steve Rodriguez reached on an error. Pinch-runner Brian Carroll advanced to second base after Rahmatulla was hit by a pitch with two outs. After USC's second pitching change of the inning, Beau Amaral was hit by a pitch. Trojan right-hander Chad Smith entered the game and struck out Dean Espy with the bases loaded.

Smith recorded a 1-2-3 ninth inning, earning his second save of the season.

Left-hander Mitchell Beacom recorded one strikeout in 1.1 hitless innings of relief. Right-hander Nick Vander Tuig logged one strikeout, recording two outs in the eighth inning.

UCLA returns to action at Cal Poly on Saturday, March 19. Game time at Baggett Stadium is 6 p.m.
