Stanford, Calif. - The No. 13 UCLA men's tennis team concluded what ended up being a rough weekend in the Bay Area on Saturday, falling 6-1 to No. 8 Stanford at the Taube Tennis Center. The Bruins, who also suffered a 4-3 loss to No. 12 Cal on Friday, fall to 11-5 overall and 0-2 in the Pac-10. With the win, the Cardinal improve to 9-5 overall and 1-1 in conference play.
Freshman Adrien Puget was the lone singles winner for UCLA on Saturday, as he took a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Denis Lin at court No. 4 to help the Bruins avoid the shutout. Warren Hardie and Amit Inbar also won their doubles match at court No. 2, defeating Matt Kandath and Lin, 9-8, however the doubles point had already been decided at the time of that victory.
Sophomore Maxime Tabatruong was able to extend his match with Greg Hirshman at court No. 5 to three sets, however Tabatruong withdrew from that contest due to injury down 0-3 in the third set.
UCLA continues Pac-10 play next week, hosting Washington on Friday at 1:30 p.m. and Oregon on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
