Six-time NCAA Gymnastics champion UCLA will host five home meets in 2012, including dual home meets against NCAA team finalists Utah in the season opener Jan. 8 and Oklahoma in the regular season finale Mar. 11. The Bruins will compete all of their 2012 home meets in the John Wooden Center while Pauley Pavilion is undergoing renovations.
Also on UCLA's schedule are road meets against NCAA qualifiers Oregon State on Feb. 17 and Georgia on Mar. 2, as well as a home meet against in-state rival Stanford on Feb. 5 and a return trip to Chicago for the IGI/Chicago Style Classic. Additionally, the Meet the Bruins preseason event returns to campus on Dec. 11 at the Wooden Center.
UCLA returns seven All-Americans from last year's team that finished a close second at the NCAA Championships. The Bruins will be led by defending NCAA balance beam champion Samantha Peszek, Pac-10 Freshman of the Year Olivia Courtney, Pac-10 floor exercise champion Elyse Hopfner-Hibbs, NCAA beam runner-up Aisha Gerber, NCAA bars medalist Monique De La Torre, and All-Americans Tauny Frattone and Sydney Sawa. Additionally, UCLA will return the services of 2010 NCAA vault champion and U.S. National Team member Vanessa Zamarripa and all-conference gymnast Mizuki Sato, both of whom suffered season-ending injuries early last season.
