UCLA alumna Anna Li tied for seventh on the uneven bars at the CoverGirl Classic in Chicago on July 23, scoring 14.3 on the only event in which she competed.
Li, who won an NCAA team championship at UCLA in 2010 and four NCAA Regional uneven bars titles, performed one of the most difficult routines of the meet. Her difficulty score was a meet-high 6.5, tied with uneven bars champion Jordyn Wieber, and three-tenths higher than her difficulty score at the American Classic three weeks earlier. Li did six release moves in her routine and also dismounted with a full-twisting double layout, a dismount she performed just once in collegiate competition. Her execution score dipped to 7.8 after she peeled off the low bar shortly after her last release move.
Li, who now trains at Legacy Elite Gymnastics, will next compete at the Visa Championships Aug. 18 and 20. The national championship meet will take place in Saint Paul, MN.
