UCLA Gymnastics Ranked Preseason No. 2

The UCLA Gymnastics team was voted No. 2 in the 2013 preseason coaches poll, continuing a streak of being ranked in the preseason Top 5 every year since the poll began in 1998. The Bruins, who won the 2012 Pac-12 Championship and finished a close third at the NCAA Championships, received five of 28 first-place votes.
Two-time defending champion Alabama earned the top ranking with 11 first-place votes and 689 total points. The Bruins received 645 points to edge out Florida, which had 10 first-place votes and 644 total points. Oklahoma and Utah round out the Top 5.
UCLA will face nine of the Top 25 teams this season, including six in the Top 10 - No. 1 Alabama, No. 4 Oklahoma, No. 5 Utah, No. 6 Stanford, No. 9 Oregon State and No. 10 Michigan. Also on the schedule for the Bruins are No. 12 Arkansas, No. 17 Washington, and No. 19 Arizona.
The Bruins will host a free Meet the Bruins Fan Fest on Sunday, Dec. 9 in Pauley Pavilion at 2pm and then will officially open the season on Sunday, Jan. 6 against Southern Utah, followed by a Saturday, Jan. 12 meet against No. 5 Utah. UCLA will play host to the NCAA Championship on Apr. 19-21 in Pauley Pavilion.
