
Bruins Finish Third in San Diego

Senior Alex Shi Yup Kim helped fourth-ranked UCLA climb the ladder to finish in third place Tuesday at the San Diego Intercollegiate in Chula Vista, Calif.
Kim posted a final round 68 (-4) and the Bruins recorded a team score of 287 (-1) to climb from fifth place to third in round three at the San Diego Country Club. The Bruins' three-round total of 884 (+20) was 14 shots behind first-place Washington (870, +6) and seven shots back of runnerup USC (877, +13). Tennessee and host San Diego State tied for fifth place at 887 (+21).
Kim and junior Pedro Figueiredo tied for 10th place at 220 (+4). Figueiredo posted a score of 73 (+1) in the final round. Junior Pontus Widegren tied for 18th at 223 (+7) after carding a 78 (+6) and sophomore Anton Arboleda tied for 26th at 225 (+9) following a round of 70 (-2). Freshman Jay Hwang tied for 40th at 229 (+13).
San Diego's Alex Ching won the event with a 54-hole score of 214 (-2) following a final round score of 72 (E).
