
Bruins Head to Pacific Coast Doubles Championships

LOS ANGELES - Without a dual match on the schedule this week, members of the UCLA men's tennis team head to La Jolla, Calif. this weekend for the 124th Pacific Coast Doubles Championships, Feb. 28-March 3, at the La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club. The Bruins' five teams that will be in action in La Jolla are (seeds in parenthesis):

New team and individual rankings were released on Tuesday. Despite its Marcos Giron moved into the top 10 for the first time in his career this week, as he checks in at No. 10 in singles. He is followed by No. 20 Adrien Puget, No. 35 Dennis Mkrtchian. UCLA also has a doubles team ranked for the first time this season, as Giron and Novikov check in at No. 54. UCLA (11-1) has three upcoming non-conference matches before heading into the Pac-12 season on March 29 at Cal. UCLA returns from San Diego to host Hawai'i on March 6 at the LATC before traveling to Waco, Texas to take on Baylor on March 10. The Bruins then head home to host Tulsa on March 14.
UCLA plays host to a special tennis event next week, as the LA Tennis Challenge is slated for Monday, March 4 at 7:00 p.m. inside the newly-renovated Pauley Pavilion. World No. 1 Novak Djokovic, Pete Sampras, Mardy Fish and the Bryan Brothers are just some of the names who will be in action at the event. For more information, visit latennischallenge.com.
