UCLA Voted No. 2 in Pac-12 Preseason Gymnastics Coaches Poll

The UCLA gymnastics team ranks second in the Pac-12's preseason gymnastics coaches poll, edged out of the top spot by just three points to defending conference champion Utah. The Bruins received three first-place votes and 43 points overall. Utah received five first-place votes and 46 points overall.

Stanford was picked to finish third with 39 points, followed by Oregon State and California, which tied for fourth with 28 points. Arizona (17), Washington (13), and Arizona State (10) round out the Top 8. Seven of the eight Pac-12 teams are ranked in the national preseason coaches Top 25, with UCLA leading the way at No. 5.

The Bruins are led by defending Pac-12 beam champion Samantha Peszek and All-Pac-12 honoree Danusia Francis.

This is the fourth year of the preseason coaches poll, with UCLA claiming the top spot in the preseason poll in each of the previous three years. The Bruins will open the 2015 season at Oregon State on Monday, Jan. 12.

Gymnastics will be featured 20 times during the regular season on the Pac-12 Networks. UCLA will be featured in seven of those regular season meets, including the Bruins' first six meets of the season.
