
No. 5 Bruins Down Washington, 4-1 in Pac-12 Opener

Despite being down 1-0 early, UCLA came out strong in singles, claiming the first set on five of six courts. Freshman Mackenzie McDonald would even the match up at court No. 3, where he was a 6-3, 6-1 winner over Gal Hakak. Top-ranked Clay Thompson then gave UCLA the advantage at court No. 1 with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Max Manthou. The win was Thompson's team-leading 33rd of the season.
Wins by Karue Sell and Marcos Giron then closed out the 4-1 victory for the Bruins, with Sell downing Viktor Farkas, 6-3, 6-3 at court No. 5, and Giron besting Emmett Egger, 6-3, 7-6(7) at the No. 2 position.
UCLA returns to action tomorrow, taking on Oregon at 11:30 a.m. in Eugene.
