
Bruins in Fourth after Opening Round at Stanford

The Bruins posted a team score of three-under par 277 Friday and trailed host Stanford (268, -12) by nine shots. St. Mary's was three shots back at 271 (-9) in second place, followed by third place Oregon at 273 (-7). USC was fifth at 278 (-2).
Individually for UCLA, Shah posted a season-best score of 67 (-3) and was tied for seventh place. He recorded four birdies and a bogey on his card. Pinizzotto carded a 68 (-2) and was tied for 11th. He made three birdies against a bogey in the opening round. Sophomore Jonathan Garrick was tied for 26th after posting a score of even par 70, and senior Anton Arboleda was tied for 49th after signing for an even par 72. Sophomore Lorens Chan's score of 76 (+6) was dropped for team scoring. He was tied for 82nd.
Stanford's Patrick Rodgers held the first round lead after firing a seven-under par 63 on Friday.
