Golfers Tied for Sixth at Pac-12 Championship in Arizona

Marana, AZ -- The 14th-ranked UCLA men's golf team was tied for sixth place after the first day of competition at the Pac-12 Men's Golf Championship, hosted by Arizona at The Gallery Golf Club.

Play was suspended due to darkness at 7 p.m. MST and only Colorado had finished both rounds. The Pac-12 Men's Championship is a 72-hole event featuring six-player-count-five scoring.

The Bruins were tied for sixth place with Arizona at 22-over par. Stanford held the lead after the first day at two-under par. Defending champion California was the runner-up at one-over par, followed by Washington at 15-over par and Arizona State at 18-over. Oregon State and USC were tied for fifth at 20-over par.

Sophomore Lorens Chan led the UCLA lineup, and was tied for 13th at two-over par. Tied for 29th at five-over par was senior Anton Arboleda. Juniors Preston Valder and Matt Pinizzotto were tied for 31st at six-over par, followed by sophomore Jonathan Garrick who was tied for 44th at eight-over par. Sophomore Jake Knapp was tied for 49th at 10-over par.

Stanford's Patrick Rodgers led the field at six-under par.
