Peszek Named Athlete of the Week, Maurice Catch is Play of the Week

Senior Samantha Peszek of the UCLA gymnastics team was named the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week, and a diving catch in the outfield by softball player Gabrielle Maurice was selected as the Play of the Week for Mar. 31-Apr. 5.

Peszek won the all-around, bars and beam at the NCAA Fayetteville Regional, leading UCLA to a second-place finish and qualification to the NCAA Championships. Peszek earned a career-high-tying 39.7 to capture first place in the all-around, her third all-around win in four meets. She recorded scores of 9.95 on bars and beam, a season-high 9.925 on floor and 9.875 on vault.

Maurice's diving grab in the fourth inning of Saturday's game at Oregon saved runs and gave the freshman outfielder her second Play of the Week of the year.
