
Knapp?s Birdie Gives Bruins a Shared Victory at Husky Invitational

On the Gold Mountain Golf Club's Olympic Course where the team competition was held, UCLA tied with Oregon at three-over par 867. The Bruins were four-over par with junior Jake Knapp on the 54th hole. Knapp made a birdie to give the Bruins co-victory honors. San Diego State finished third at 873 (+9), followed by Washington at 874 (+10) and UC Davis at 876 (+12).
Knapp drove the green on the 300-yard final hole, but had to chip over the fringe for his second shot. He left himself a big right-to-left breaking 15-footer for birdie, which he made to give the Bruins a shared victory. Knapp also won individual honors, winning by three strokes with a three-round total of 209 (-7) after a final round of 71 (-1).
Junior Lorens Chan tied for third place at one-under par 215, following his final round of 70 (-2), and Jonathan Garrick tied for 11th at 218 (+2) after posting a score of 73 (+1). Senior Matt Pinizzotto tied for 42nd at 226 (+10) following a 77 (+5), and freshman Brandon Mai tied for 55th at 231 (+15).
On the Cascade Course where the individual-only competition was contested, senior Manav Shah won medalist honors with a 54-hole total of 206 (-7). Like Knapp, Shah recorded his first collegiate victory. Preston Valder tied for fourth at 214 (+1) after posting a 72 (+1) and Kyle Pollema tied for fifth at 215 (+2) following his round of one-under par 70. Senior Jay Hwang tied for 12th at 217 (+4) after posting a score of 71 (E). Freshmen Brandon Mai and Victor Ponte tied for 16th and 19th, respectively. Mai posted a one-under par 71 and Ponte added a one-over par 72.
