No. 1 UCLA Shuts Out No. 13 Pepperdine, 2-0

The Bruins (5-0-1) received goals from Darian Jenkins and Sarah Killion, and goalkeeper Katelyn Rowland extended her shutout streak to six this season and seven overall, including her shutout in the NCAA title game. Rowland has 560 consecutive shutout minutes this year, just four shy of her own single-season school record of 564, set in 2012.
Pepperdine (4-1-1) challenged UCLA early, with the Waves becoming the first team this season to get two shots on goal against the Bruins. Rowland, however, was up to the task, saving both of Lynn Williams' shots in the first five minutes. UCLA's defense took over from there, holding the Waves to no shots the rest of the half.
Abby Dahlkemper had the Bruins' first shot at 12:37, and it led to a UCLA goal. Dahlkemper's shot was blocked by a Waves player but went to Jenkins, who scored from outside the eight-yard box at 12:43 for her third goal of the year and second of the tournament.
Megan Oyster nearly doubled UCLA's lead with a header off a corner kick later in the half, but her shot was cleared off the line by a Pepperdine defender.
UCLA increased its lead to 2-0 at 62:48 thanks to Killion's second goal of the weekend, a header from a cross from hometown favorite Caprice Dydasco. Killion is now tied for the team lead in points with nine and leads the squad with five assists. Her 25 career assists are tied for fifth with Lauren Barnes on UCLA's career assist list.
The Bruins outshot the Waves, 15-3. Rowland finished with two saves, and Pepperdine goalkeeper Hannah Seabert had four.
UCLA returns home to host Wake Forest on Friday, Sept. 12 at 5:30pm in game one of a doubleheader with the UCLA men's soccer team.
