LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The UCLA men's tennis team hits its home courts this week, as the Bruins are set to host the 59th Annual Southern California Intercollegiate Championships from Oct. 28-Nov. 1 at the Los Angeles Tennis Center.
UCLA senior Karue Sell is the tournament's No. 3 seed in the 32-player singles draw. Logan Staggs and Austin Rapp check in for the Bruins as Nos. 5-8 seeds.
Action kicks off on Wednesday with the singles qualifying draw. UCLA's Michael Guzman, Travis Martin, and Nishanth Yamani are scheduled to take the court at 11:00 a.m. PT. Singles main draw will begin on Thursday.
In addition to UCLA, the other schools competing in the tournament include: USC, Pepperdine, Cal Poly, Concordia, Azusa Pacific, USD, Loyola Marymount, UCSB, BYU, and UCSD.
Last year, then freshmen Rapp and Martin Redlicki took home the doubles title after downing BYU's David Ball and Jacob Sullivan, 8-3. In singles play, then senior Dennis Mkrtchian captured the singles crown after defeating teammate and top-seeded Gage Brymer in the championship match.
