
Garrick Leads Through Two Rounds

ERIN, Wis. - Senior Jonathan Garrick leads the Erin Hills Intercollegiate by two strokes after two rounds with a score of 7-under (137), as the Bruins remained in third place after 36 holes at Erin Hills Golf Course.
Garrick started his round with birdies on #2 and #5 before losing those shots on the seventh and ninth. But he rebounded with birdies at #13, #14 and #17 to shoot a 3-under 69. Garrick, who leads all players with 13 birdies through two rounds, leads Ole Miss' Braden Thornberry by a couple of shots.
Freshman Phil Delisi recorded the second-best round of the day for the Bruins with a 1-under 71. He made birdies on the second, sixth and 14th, with bogeys on #5 and #17, to post his best collegiate round thus far and put him in a tie for 26th at 4-over for the tournament.
Freshman Patrick Murphy is tied for 21st (+2) through two rounds after a second consecutive 1-over 73. He birdied the first and 14th to go with three bogeys (#3, #8, #9) and 13 pars. Senior Jake Knapp also had a 1-over 73 on Monday, bouncing back from three straight bogeys (6-8) to make birdies on #9, #14 and #18, and is +5 (T-29) after 36 holes.
Freshman Cole Madey had a non-scoring +5 (77) with two birdies, five bogeys and a double and is also tied for 29th (+5). Sophomore Brandon Mai, playing as an individual, is +6 (T-36) after posting a second straight 3-over (75) with two birdies (#2, #7) and five bogeys.
The Bruins, 1-under (575) as a team and three strokes better than Sunday, are seven shots behind first-place SMU and three back of second-place Oklahoma State.
The top three teams in the standings will tee off the first starting at 7:20 a.m. PT on Tuesday in the order of Madey, Knapp, Delisi, Murphy and Garrick. Mai will begin at 8:10 a.m. PT on hole #1.
