Glenn Twins Sign with UCLA

November 12, 2015 | Gymnastics

UCLA gymnastics head coach Valorie Kondos Field has announced the signing of twins Anna and Grace Glenn to National Letters of Intent. Anna and Grace will join Olympic gold medalist Kyla Ross and current World uneven bars champion Madison Kocian in the Freshman Class of 2016-17. Ross and Kocian signed Letters of Intent during the last school year and deferred enrollment.

The Glenn twins hail from Charlotte, N.C. and have trained at Southeastern Gymnastics under coach Ludmilla Shobe since they were two years old. The Level 10 standouts are 4.0 students at South Mecklenburg High School.

Anna had an outstanding 2015 season, winning the silver medal in the all-around at the Nastia Liukin Supergirl Cup and placing sixth in the all-around and second on vault at the JO National Championships. She won the all-around, bars and beam at the Level 10 Regionals and swept every event and the all-around at the Level 10 State Championships. In 2014, she was sixth in the all-around and vault and second on beam at the JO Nationals and second in the all-around, vault, beam and floor at the Regional Championships. Anna placed third on vault and fourth on beam at the 2013 JO Nationals after winning the all-around at the Regional and State meets. She captured her first national title in 2012, winning uneven bars at JO Nationals. She also won the all-around at the 2012 Regionals and uneven bars at the State meet.

Grace, a three-time JO National Team member, placed fifth in the all-around, second on beam, third on vault and fourth on bars at the 2014 Nastia Liukin Supergirl Cup. She has had great success at the JO National Championships, winning the all-around and placing second on vault in 2014, as well as placing fourth in the all-around in 2013 and third in 2012. At the Regional level, she swept the all-around and all four events at the 2014 Championships and was the vault and bars champion in 2013 and vault and beam champion in 2012. Grace is also a six-time Level 10 State champion, winning the all-around, vault, bars and beam in 2014 and beam in 2013 and 2012.

"Anna and Grace Glenn are literally a one-two punch when it comes to signing amazing athletes," said Kondos. "They are as mentally tough as they are talented and will be tremendous additions to our program. Both of them bring beautiful lines and artistry to exciting gymnastics skills."

Also enrolling at UCLA in Fall 2016 will be Ross, from Aliso Viejo, Calif. and Gym-Max, and Kocian, from Dallas, Texas and WOGA. Ross, who won gold as part of the Fierce Five at the 2012 Olympics, is a five-time World Championships medalist, winning team gold and all-around bronze in 2014 and silver in the all-around, bars and beam in 2013. She was also the 2013 and 2014 U.S. beam champion and two-time all-around silver medalist. Kocian won two gold medals at the recent 2015 World Championships, winning team gold for the second consecutive year, as well capturing gold on the uneven bars. Kocian also won the uneven bars at the 2015 P&G national championships.
