Bruins Place Fourth at Gifford

CARLSBAD, Calif. - The Bruins finished fourth at this week's Gifford Collegiate at the La Costa Legends Course, as senior Jonathan Garrick recorded the best UCLA performance with a fourth-place showing.
UCLA was +7 (291) in its final round to end the tournament at +14 (866).
Garrick, who finished one shot back at 3-under (210), was among three Bruins who placed in the Top 20. Freshman Cole Madey tied for 12th at +3 (216), while senior Jake Knapp tied for 16th at +4 (217).
Garrick fired a 2-under 69 on Wednesday, making four birdies on the first, fourth, seventh and 16th, along with two bogeys. Madey was +5 (76) in his final round with a birdie on the ninth, four bogeys and a double. Knapp made three birdies (#4, #6 and #12) in his 2-over 73 round, also making three bogeys and a double.
Sophomore Corey Shaun shot his third straight 75 (+4) to finish in a tie for 51st (+12). He made birdies on the eighth and 14th with four bogeys and a double. Freshman Patrick Murphy had a +3 (74) on Wednesday to tie for 75th (+20, 233), making birdies on the 14th and 18th with five bogeys.
Playing as individuals, sophomore Brandon Mai and freshman Phil Delisi each tied for 68th with a score of +17 (230). Mai was +6 (77) on Wednesday with birdies on the fourth and 12th, six bogeys and a double, while Delisi was +7 (78) with a birdie on the 12th, six bogeys and a double.
The Bruins are done for the fall season, next playing at the Amer Ari Invitational in Waikoloa, Hawai'i (Feb. 4-6).
