
Bruins Fall to 10th after Round Two in the Desert

The Bruins posted a team score of 291 (+3) and dropped five spots to 575 (-1). Arizona State blistered the Nicklaus Championship Course with a 14-under par team score of 274 and was atop the leader board at 23-under par 553. Oklahoma State climbed into second place with a second round score of 275 (-13) and was two shots behind at 21-under 555. Stirling University of Scotland, the first round leader, fell to third at 559 (-17), followed by San Diego State at 564 (-8). Texas Tech and USC were tied for fifth at 567 (-4).
Individually for the Bruins, senior Manav Shah led the fivesome with 2-under par score of 70 in round two. Shah made 17 pars and eagled the par 5 11th hole. He was tied for 24th place 1-under par 143 with teammate Preston Valder, who posted a score of 73 (+1). Valder recorded four bogeys, a birdie and an eagle during his round. Junior Jake Knapp recorded four birdies, four bogeys and a double bogey on his way to a round of 75 (+3). He was tied for 31st at even par 144. Junior Lorens Chan was tied for 42nd place at 145 (+1) following his round of 74 (+2). Senior Matt Pinizzotto also posted a score of 74 (+2) and was tied for 47th at 147 (+3).
Senior Jay Hwang, playing as an individual, also was tied for 24th after posting a score of 73 (+1).
Matt Rottluff and Jon Rahm of Arizona State were tied for the lead after two rounds at 8-under par 136. Rottluff fired a 66 (-6) on Monday.
