Fourth-Ranked Bruins Grab Top Seed at Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic

The Bruins won the 18-hole stroke play round with a 13-over par score of 301 and will meet eighth-seed and No. 1 ranked USC in Saturday's match play quarterfinals.
On a cool and windy day, surviving the elements was key to climbing the leader board.
“I was really proud of them because it was difficult today,” Bruins' Head Coach Carrie Forsyth said. “You just have to maintain and realize that when the conditions are this hard, scores are going to be high. You just have to stay patient and our team did a really good job of that for the most part. We hung in there and played very well on the back nine which is huge after a tough start. I think it showed a lot of mental toughness on our part.”
The stroke play/match play format loosely resembles this year's NCAA Championship format, where teams will play 54 holes of stroke play before entering a match play draw based on their stroke play finish.
Second-seed South Carolina (308, +20) meets seventh-seed Georgia (317, +29), while third-seed Arkansas (309, +21) takes on No. 6 Northwestern (315, +27). Fourth-place Duke (310, +22) battles fifth-place Baylor (311, +23). Winners advance to the semifinals, losers fall into the consolation bracket. Teams that finished 9th-12th will play in the Black Bracket.
Individually for the Bruins, senior Erynne Lee posted a one-over par 73 and tied for third. Sophomore Bronte Law carded a 75 (+3) and tied for seventh. Freshman Lydia Choi signed for a four-over par 76 and tied for 11th place and junior Louise Ridderstrom tied for 15th after posting a 77 (+5). Freshman Erin Choi had the drop score of 86 (+14) and tied for 56th.
Arkansas' Regina Plascencia finished first with a one-under par 71.
