In the only match of the day featuring ranked opponents, UCLA's 26th-ranked Dennis Mkrtchian and Washington's 89th-ranked Mitch Stewart battled at court No. 1, as Mkrtchian came away with the 6-4, 6-3 victory. The Bruins' other ranked singles player, 101st-ranked Martin Redlicki, was also a winner at court No. 2, where he downed Jake Douglas, 6-3, 6-2. Other straight-set winners for UCLA on the day were Gage Brymer (court No. 3) and Joseph Di Giulio (court No. 6). Junior Karue Sell prevailed in three sets at court No. 4.
Washington's lone point on the day came at the No. 5 spot, where Joao Barra prevailed over freshman Austin Rapp, 5-7, 6-2, (10-6).
Prior to singles, UCLA earned the doubles point with wins at court Nos. 1 and 3.
UCLA will be at home again next week, hosting Arizona on Friday and Utah on Saturday.
