UCLA Rowing Concludes Successful Day Two at San Diego Crew Classic

UCLA's varsity four won the six-boat race in a time of 7 minutes, 45.82 seconds, more than three seconds ahead of second-place competitor USC to secure the Karen Plumleigh Cortney Cup. The Bruins finished ahead of crosstown rival USC, followed by Texas, Sacramento State, San Diego and Kansas State.
In earlier races on Sunday morning, UCLA's second varsity eight and novice eight crews finished second in their respective heats. UCLA's varsity eight raced to a sixth-place finish in its Grand Final race.
The Bruins' second varsity eight finished with a time of 6:47.96, just 2.77 seconds behind first-place finisher Texas. UCLA crossed the finish line ahead of USC, San Diego, Kansas State and Duke, respectively.
UCLA's varsity eight posted a time of 6:47.84 in the Grand Final race, which saw the third- through sixth-place finishers all cross the line within 1.68 seconds of each other.
The Bruins' novice eight crew logged a second-place finish with a time of 7:15.87, just 6.33 seconds behind first-place competitor San Diego. UCLA's N8+ boat crossed the finish line ahead of Miami, Minnesota, Sacramento State, UC San Diego and Minnesota (B), respectively.
