UCLA Ninth after 36 Holes at Pac-12 Men's Championship

The 13th-ranked UCLA men's golf team was in ninth place after the first two rounds of the Pac-12 Men's Golf Championship at Palouse Ridge GC in Pullman, WA.

The Bruins posted a team score of 722 (+22) and trailed front-runner USC by 23 shots. The Trojans were the only team under par, checking in at 699 (-1). Third-ranked Arizona State was second at 704 (+4), followed by Washington State and Stanford in a tie for in third at 710 (+10). Washington was fifth at 716 (+16).

UCLA's top player after two rounds was junior Jonathan Garrick, who posted rounds of 69-72—141 (+1). Garrick's 69 (-1) in the first round was the only under par score on the team. Senior Manav Shah and junior Jake Knapp were tied for 27th at 144 (+4). Knapp posted a second round even par 70. Senior Preston Valder was next in a tie for 32nd at 5-over at 145. Valder also posted an even par round of 70 in the afternoon to move 12 spots up the leader board after the first round. Senior Matt Pinizzotto carded a pair of 74s and was tied for 46th place at 8-over par 148. Freshman Brandon Mai recorded both drop scores and was tied for 69th at 23-over par 163.

Stanford's Maverick McNealy was the first round leader at 7-under 133 after firing rounds of 65-68.

The Pac-12 Men's Golf Championship is a six-count-five 72-hole event played over three days
