Peszek Selected to Academic All-District First Team

Peszek, the 2015 NCAA all-around and balance beam champion, will graduate with honors in June with a degree in Communication Studies. She made the Dean's Honor Roll three times with a 4.0 and the Athletic Director's Honor Roll every quarter she was enrolled at UCLA. She totaled four NACGC/W Scholastic All-America honors and three Pac-12 All-Academic awards. Peszek was recently awarded a NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship, becoming just the fifth UCLA gymnast ever to do so. At UCLA, she was a finalist for the 2014-15 Scholar-Athlete of the Year and captured the Athletic Director's Academic Excellence Award. She also won the AS2 “S.U.C.C.E.S.S.” Award in 2015 and the Bruin Leadership Award in 2014 and was a three-time honoree on the UCLA All-Academic team.
Peszek leaves UCLA with a strong legacy as one of the most accomplished gymnasts in UCLA history, having won three NCAA individual titles, including the all-around title as a senior and balance beam championships as a freshman and as a senior. She is the first UCLA gymnast ever to win multiple NCAA balance beam titles. She finished her career with 17 All-America honors, along with three NCAA, seven NCAA Regional and three Pac-12 individual titles. She also tied the school record with a perfect 10 on the uneven bars in 2014.
The Academic All-District® teams are selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America to recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. The teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month. To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 20,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
