
Golfers Fourth after Round One in Indiana

The third-seeded Bruins posted a team score of 293 (+5), two shots ahead of fifth-place UNLV (295, +7). Ninth-seeded Colorado bolted out to the first-round lead, firing an 11-under par score of 277. Top-seeded Illinois was tied for second with SMU at 285 (-3).
Individually for the Bruins, Jonathan Garrick was tied for fourth place after firing a 69 (-3) in the opening round. Garrick made five birdies and a pair of bogeys on the day. Senior Manav Shah was tied for 14th after posting an even par score of 72. Tied for 33rd was senior Matt Pinizotto at 3-over par 75, Junior Jake Knapp was tied for 46th place after carding a score of 77 (+5), and junior Lorens Chan, recovering from a wrist injury, had the drop score of 78 (+6) and was tied for 52nd.
SMU's Benjamin Baxter and David Oraee and Jeremy Paul of Colorado were tied for first place after posting 4-under par scores of 68 on Thursday.
After 54 holes of stroke play, the top five teams will advance to the NCAA Men's Golf Championship, May 29-June 3, at Concession GC in Bradenton, FL.
