May 08, 2015 | Men's Tennis
After winning the doubles point with wins at court Nos. 1 and 3, UCLA then reeled off three straight-set wins in singles play. The Bruins quickly went ahead 2-0 in the match when Joseph Di Giulio lost just two games at court No. 6, downing Michael Beiler, 6-1, 6-1. Junior Karue Sell then made it 3-0 in favor of the Bruins with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Tianyu Bao at court No. 4.
Dennis Mkrtchian got the clinching victory for UCLA at the No. 2 spot, as he downed Andres Alfonzo, 6-2, 6-2 to cap off the 4-0 win. It was a milestone result for the Bruin senior, who notched the 100th win of his career on Friday.
UCLA and Texas Tech have already met once this season, with the Bruins downing the Red Raiders, 4-1 during ITA Kick-Off Weekend in January.
