
Carda Named MVP at Japan Cup

OKAGI, Gifu, Japan - Ally Carda concluded her first season with the U.S. Women's National Team in style by helping the Red, White and Blue win gold at the Japan Cup.
Carda appeared in three of the four games, posting a 0.00 earned run average in 14 innings with eight strikeouts, nine hits and six walks allowed.
Carda pitched the final inning of a combined no-hitter against Australia on Aug. 6 before tossing five frames of shutout relief on Aug. 7 versus Japan. She fanned six in the matchup with the host team.
In the championship tilt versus Japan on Aug. 8, Carda got the start and went the distance, striking out a pair and allowing no earned runs in the eight-inning victory.
Carda concluded the summer with Team USA, which had a 16-3 record, with two golds (World Cup of Softball) and a silver at the Pan American Games. Carda's 0.38 ERA led the USA pitching staff.
