Grauer and Halstead Win Gold

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Sophomore Johanna Grauer and incoming freshman Paige Halstead helped the U.S. Junior Women's National Team to a gold medal at the 2015 World Baseball Softball Confederation Junior Women's World Championship. The team was head coached by Bruin alum Tairia Flowers.

Grauer appeared in two games, striking out 17 in nine innings and allowing just seven hits, two runs and a walk. She tossed two scoreless innings on Aug. 9 against Chinese Taipei, fanning two. Two days later against Puerto Rico, Grauer tossed a complete game, striking out 15 in seven innings and giving up two runs and five hits.

Halstead played in four contests, going 4-for-8 (.500) with five runs batted in, four runs, a double, a stolen base and a walk. She had a pair of singles against Italy on Aug. 10, driving in four runs and swiping a bag. Halstead also had a single and two runs versus Brazil (Aug. 11), scored a run against Mexico (Aug. 12) and had an RBI double against Canada on Aug. 13.
