August 23, 2015 | Men's Soccer
LOS ANGELES – The top-ranked UCLA Bruins concluded their preseason schedule with a 2-1 victory over the San Francisco Dons on Saturday evening at North Athletic Field. Goals from Larry Ndjock and William Cline propelled the Bruins to the exhibition win.
UCLA got the scoring started with a tally in the first half off of the foot of Ndjock. The senior striker who had seven goals a year ago, finished from inside the box off of an assist from defender Chase Gasper in the 27th minute. The lone goal, paired with three saves from Juan Cervantes, put the Bruins ahead, 1-0, after one half.
In the second half, UCLA dominated play, consistently manufacturing chances in the offensive third. However, the Dons only shot of the half equalized the game in the 82nd minute when David Garrett slipped the ball in off of a corner-kick. Just two minutes later, the Bruins responded with the eventual game-winning goal from Cline. Ndjock was involved yet again, earning the assist on the sophomore midfielder's second-half strike.
The two teams agreed to play an additional 15-minute period, but neither team was able to add a goal, keeping the final score at 2-1. Overall, UCLA out-shot San Francisco, 19-8, including, 10-1, in the second half of play.
