DES MOINES, Iowa - Bruin alum Scott McCarron won for the first time on the PGA TOUR Champions on Sunday, birdieing his final three holes to claim the Principal Charity Classic.

McCarron, in just his 17th start on the PGA TOUR Champions, finished at 15-under 201 to edge Miguel Angel Jimenez and Billy Andrade. He came into the tournament with back-to-back top 10s before posting his first title since the 2001 Bellsouth Classic. That victory was one of three he had on the PGA TOUR.

In 442 events on the PGA TOUR, McCarron has won over $12 million with 39 Top 10s. He is just shy of $1 million in earnings on the PGA TOUR Champions with six Top 10s.

McCarron is the second Bruin to win on the PGA TOUR Champions this season, as Duffy Waldorf, who tied for fourth in the tournament and is fourth on the money list, won the season-opening Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai in January.

McCarron and Waldorf are two of seven Bruin alums on the PGA TOUR Champions (Jay Delsing, Brandt Jobe, Steve Pate, Corey Pavin, Tom Pernice).

The PGA TOUR Champions heads to Philadelphia for the third major of the season, the SENIOR PLAYERS Championship.
