LOS ANGELES – UCLA senior defender Javan Torre was selected with the 56th overall pick in the third round of the 2016 MLS SuperDraft by the Colorado Rapids.
Torre's selection brings the UCLA all-time total to 68, the most MLS SuperDraft selections of any college. The Santa Monica, Calif. native also becomes the 34th player to be selected since Coach Jorge Salcedo took over the program in 2004. The Bruins have had at least one player selected in each of the past five MLS SuperDrafts.
Torre appeared in 56 games (29 starts) over his four-year career in Westwood, finishing with two goals and one assist. This past season he earned All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention after tying for the lead in points among UCLA defenders, tallying three. Torre helped contribute to 18 shutouts in his career and made appearances for both the US U-18 and US U-20 Men's National Teams.
