UCLA Shows Depth at Bronco Invitational

SUNNYVALE, Calif. โ In the second meet in as many days the UCLA cross country team showcased its depth on Saturday at the Bronco Invitational, held at Baylands Regional Park. The men's team cruised to a second place showing while the women ran a short squad.
Junior Daniel De La Torre paced the Bruins with a fourth place finish, posting an 8k time of 23:44.0. A pack of Bruins followed as sophomore Jackson Marshall finished in 14th with a time of 23:44.1. Sophomore Cole Smith was 15th at 24:19.6 while freshman Millen Trujillo was 17th with a 24:26.5.
Sophomore Arturo Sotomayor crossed the line in 38th with a 24:44.2 and junior Max Davis was 72nd at 25:18.1 while sophomore Sahm Bazargan was 77th at 25:25.4.
The Bruins only had a few in uniform on Saturday in the women's 6k. Sophomore Taylor Taite led the group with a sixth place finish, clocking a 20:41.4. Junior Emily Fieberling was 30th with a 21:26.1 while freshman Beckie Alch was 78th at 22:04.8 and freshman Sarah Riggs rounded out the Bruins in 165th with a 25:18.2.
The Bruins will take another week off to train and then head to the Pac-12 Championships. The meet is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 28 at the Randolph North Golf Course in Tucson, Ariz.
