Di Giulio Advances in Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. – Pre-qualifying action has concluded at the 2016 Saint Francis Health System ITA Men's All-American Championships in Tulsa, and UCLA's Joseph Di Giulio has advanced into the qualifying draw. Through three rounds, the senior has not dropped a single set.

After edging Utah's Parker McGuinness, 6-1, 7-6(5), third-seeded Di Giulio faced Euan McIntosh of Fresno State in the final round of pre-qualifying matches. The Bruin outlasted his opponent in the first-set tiebreaker, then went on to take the second set, 7-5.

Teammate Austin Rapp also made a run in the pre-qualifying draw. On Saturday, Rapp logged two straight-set wins. The UCLA junior edged Texas A&M's James Martell, 6-1, 7-6(11), before going on to defeat Auburn's Carles Sarrio, 7-5, 6-3, in the round of 128. On Sunday, Rapp fell to Srdjan Jankovljevic of Tennessee, 6-3, 6-3.

Qualifying matches will begin on Monday, October 3, followed by main draw contests on October 6. The singles and doubles finals are scheduled for October 10. Singles quarterfinalists, doubles finalists and consolation champions will receive an automatic entry into the 2016 USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships on Nov. 3-6, held at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, New York.
