October 27, 2016 | Men's Soccer
UCLA senior defender Michael Amick was named to the 2016 Academic All-District Men's Soccer Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), announced the organization on Thursday. Amick advances to the Academic All-America Team ballot, where All-America honorees will be selected next month.
Amick, a native of Sunnyvale, Calif., earns his second consecutive academic all-district nod after posting a 3.63 GPA in biochemistry and being named third team CoSIDA Academic All-America in 2015. He is a two-time All-Pac-12 selection and was a third team NSCAA All-American honoree and first team NSCAA All-Far West selection in 2014. The three-time team captain is also a nominee for the Senior CLASS Award and is a two-time Pac-12 All-Academic honoree. This season, Amick started the first 11 matches for the Bruins, all on the backline.
The 2016 CoSIDA Academic All-District Men's Soccer Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. District 8, one of eight districts across the United States and Canada, encompasses Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Canada.
To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution.
