Cressy to Face USC's Crystal in Semis

LOS ANGELES, Calif. โ UCLA sophomore Maxime Cressy is set to face third-seeded Nick Crystal of USC in the semifinals of the 60th Annual Southern California Intercollegiate Championships.ย The crosstown showdown is slated for 11 a.m. PT on Sunday.ย
Cressy advanced to the semis with a straight-set win over BYU's Aidan Carrazedo in the quarterfinals on Saturday afternoon.ย Crystal secured his spot with a three-set win over UCSB's Chase Masciorini.ย After taking the first set 7-5 over Masciorini, Crystal fell 6-1 in the second.ย The Trojan then coasted to a 6-2 win in the third to advance to Sunday's match.ย
In singles consolation action, Ben Goldberg and Daniel Gealer both advanced to the quarterfinals via withdrawals by Felix Albert and Ruben Blattner (Hawai'i).ย Gealer then fell to Antoine Noel of Cal Poly in straight sets, while Goldberg downed UCSD's Justin Khang 6-1, 6-2.ย Goldberg will play USC's Jake DeVine in the consolation semis on Sunday at 1 p.m. PT.ย
In the doubles round of 16, Gealer and Goldberg cruised past UCSB's Masciorini and Kristian Prior, 8-3.ย On the other side of the draw, fourth-seeded Rapp and Cressy edged Texas Tech's Connor Curry and Carlos DiLaura 8-7(6).ย In Saturday afternoon's quarterfinals, both Bruin duos fell to their opponents.ย ย ย
