Shibahara Makes ITA Qualifying Draw

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – Bruin freshman Ena Shibahara secured her spot in the qualifying draw at the 2016 Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships after downing TCU's Olaya Garrido-Rivas in straight sets on Sunday afternoon. The 6-1, 6-0 victory was seventh-seeded Shibahara's third straight sweep since action kicked off on Saturday.
Qualifying matches begin on Tuesday. Shibahara faces Viktoriya Dzyuba of Lipscomb in the first round at 12:30 p.m. PT.
Main draw contests begin on Thursday, Oct. 6. The singles final is scheduled for Oct. 9. Main draw singles semifinalists, main draw doubles finalists, and main draw consolation champions will receive automatic entry into the 2016 USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships, Nov. 3-6 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, New York.

After ousting two seeded pairs en route to the ITA Blue Doubles final, Terri Fleming and Jada Hart captured the doubles title on Sunday afternoon. The Bruin duo battled with Pac-12 foes Kassidy Jump and Sammi Hampton of ASU, edging the Sun Devils 8-7(4).
In singles play, seventh-seeded Kristin Wiley fell in the Blue Consolation semifinals, while top-seeded Alaina Miller withdrew from the Gold Consolation final.
