Lonzo Ball Named Student-Athlete of Week

LOS ANGELES – Freshman guard Lonzo Ball of the men's basketball team was voted the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for Nov. 7-13.
Ball, a 6-foot-6 guard from Chino Hills, Calif., averaged 16.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 8.5 assists in his first two collegiate games last week, helping lead UCLA to back-to-back wins over Pacific and CSUN.
A McDonald's All-America selection as a senior at Chino Hills High School last season, Ball finished his first collegiate weekend with 17 assists and six turnovers and averaged a team-leading 36.0 minutes per game. In addition, he shot 71.4 percent from the field (10 for 14), including 4 of 7 from 3-point range.
No. 16 UCLA (2-0) returns to action against San Diego (0-2) on Thursday, Nov. 17. Game time in Pauley Pavilion is 8 p.m. (PT). The Bruins' game will be televised on Pac-12 Network. Fans can hear the radio call in the Los Angeles area on AM 570 (KLAC).
This marks Ball's first UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor this season and of his career. The weekly award is chosen by fans on Twitter via @UCLAAthletics.
