RICHMOND, Va. - UCLA alum Scott McCarron won for the second time this season on the PGA TOUR Champions, claiming the Dominion Charity Classic in a playoff on Sunday. McCarron defeated Tom Byrum on the first playoff hole with a 6-foot birdie putt, winning the second tournament of the Charles Schwab Cup Playoffs.

In 31 career tournaments and in his first full year on the PGA TOUR Champions in 2016, McCarron, who won the Principal Charity Classic in June, shot a 13-under (203) total for his three rounds (67-67-69). McCarron was one of five Bruin alums who advanced to the second Schwab Cup tournament. Two others were in the top 10 (Brandt Jobe, T-3, -11 and Duffy Waldorf, T-6, -9), while last week's winner Tom Pernice Jr. tied for 13th (-7) and Steve Pate tied for 31st (-2).

McCarron's victory puts him in second place in the Charles Schwab Cup standings heading into next week's Charles Schwab Cup Championship in Scottsdale, Ariz. Pernice Jr. (eighth), Waldorf (10th) and Jobe (16th) also made the final event.
