Hernandez, Yueill Earn NSCAA All-Region Honors

LOS ANGELES - UCLA sophomore midfielder Jose Hernandez earned NSCAA All-Far West Region first team honors, while sophomore midfielder Jackson Yueill was selected to the all-region second team, announced the National Soccer Coaches Association of America on Tuesday.
Hernandez and Yueill each earn their second-straight all-region awards after both were named first team selections last season.
Hernandez, a native of Mexico City, Mexico, was named the Pac-12 Co-Player of the Year and an All-Pac-12 first team selection after finishing second on the team in points (16) and goals (5) and was third in assists (6). He collected a pair of game-winning goals during conference play, at No. 13 San Diego State on Oct. 8 and against Oregon State on Oct. 2. Hernandez also tallied a pair of assists in a 4-3 win at Oregon State in the team's final road contest. He ended the season ranked in the top-10 in the Pac-12 in points, goals, assists and game-winning goals. Hernandez is ranked No. 27 on Top Drawer Soccer's midseason list and was named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List.
Yueill, a native of Bloomington, Minn., led the Pac-12 with 11 assists in 2016 and was selected to the All-Pac-12 first team for the second consecutive season. He currently ranks fifth in the NCAA in both total assists and assists per game at 0.55. His 11 assists also ties him for the 10th most assists in a single-season in program history. Yueill tied the school record for the most assists in a single-match when he tallied four against No. 1 Akron in a 6-1 victory on Sept. 5 and was named to the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week. He finished fourth on the team in points with 15 and scored the game-winning goal in overtime at No. 13 UC Santa Barbara on Sept. 17. Yueill is ranked No. 7 in the Top Drawer Soccer midseason list.
