
No. 14 UCLA Routs Arizona, 73-39

TUCSON, Ariz. -- Monique Billings had a game-high-tying 14 points and five rebounds as No. 14 UCLA rebounded to post an impressive 73-39 victory at Arizona (11-13, 2-10 Pac-12) on Sunday afternoon in McKale Center.
UCLA (17-6, 9-3 Pac-12) scored the game's first 11 points and never looked back. The Bruins held a 16-2 edge at the end of the first period, holding the Wildcats to 1-for-12 from the field while forcing nine turnovers. Kennedy Burke and Billings each scored six points in the opening period.
The Bruins maintained their strong defensive effort in the second quarter, allowing another single-digit effort while winning the period 18-9 to build a 34-11 lead by the break. Jordin Canada, Nirra Fields and Lajahna Drummer each scored four points in the second to lead UCLA.
UCLA got a little complacent to open the third period as the Wildcats' press forced the Bruins into five turnovers in the first five minutes while Arizona went on an 11-2 run before Kari Korver hit her second three-pointer of the game. Arizona cut the Bruins lead to 14 points before UCLA scored the last six points of the quarter, including four by Billings, to push the lead back to 20 at 47-27 at the end of three.
The Bruins maintained a comfortable lead throughout the fourth quarter but continued its sloppy play early, ending the game with 20 turnovers. But UCLA forced 25 and held a dominant 47-29 rebounding edge to hold the Wildcats at bay. UCLA was able to put up 26 points in the final period.
Canada finished with 10 points, five assists and four steals while Burke had 10 pionts and six rebounds. Fields extended her double-figure scoring streak to 16 straight games with 11 points.
Malena Washington had 14 points to lead Arizona. LaBrittney Jones was the only other Wildcat to reach double figures with 12 points.

UCLA: Has been ranked for 10 straight weeks. ... The Bruins held Arizona to single digit scoring quarters in the first and the second. The two points allowed in the first quarter were the fewest by any opponent in any period this year. ... UCLA improves to 54-21 overall in the series and 26-12 in Tucson, Ariz. ... UCLA improved to 14-0 when leading at the half.
Arizona: Committed 25 turnovers and shot just 27.6 percent (16-for-58) from the field. ... The Wildcats were just 1-for-17 from three-point range and only had four assists for the game.

UCLA returns home after four straight road games to host Washington State in the Play4Kay Pink Game on Friday, Feb. 12 at 7:00 p.m. PT/10 p.m. ET. The Bruins will later host Washington on Sunday, Feb. 14 at 11:00 a.m. PT/2:00 p.m. ET on ESPNU. That game is Girls Scouts Day as well as Dad's and Daughter's Day and the Bruins' annual Harry Potter game.
Arizona travels to Stanford on Friday, Feb. 12.
