UCLA Rowing Cruises Past LMU

MARINA DEL REY, Calif. - The UCLA women's rowing team earned a dual-meet victory over Loyola Marymount on Saturday morning, winning each of three races by open water.
Rowing against an incoming current with headwinds between 6-8 miles per hour, the Bruins' varsity eight crew opened the morning with a win over Loyola Marymount, posting a time of 7:10.35. LMU finished the race in 7:26.16.
UCLA's second varsity eight crossed the finish line 17.23 seconds ahead of Loyola Marymount in the morning's second race. The Bruins crossed the finish line in 7:40.81, while LMU registered a final time of 7:58.04.
UCLA raced two varsity four crews against LMU's varsity four in the morning's third race. The Bruins 'A' four crossed the finish line in 8:27.43 while the 'B' crew registered a second-place time of 8:34.51. LMU's varsity four posted a time of 9:18.83.
The Bruins concluded the races with two more varsity four crews against each other (LMU did not participate in that race). UCLA's first four finished the race in 8:51.54, while the second four registered a time of 9:04.10
Saturday's event marked UCLA's final home races of the spring season. Following the races versus Loyola Marymount, the Bruins' team honored its five senior rowers.
UCLA returns to action at the Pac-12 Challenge in Redwood Shores, Calif., on Saturday, March 26.
